Historic King William Neighborhood
Walking Tour

If you have seen the Riverwalk and the Alamo…this is something really different. The King William historic district began as farmland before the first homesites were sold there in the mid-1800’s.

This beautiful location is only minutes from the heart of San Antonio. Located next to the meandering river, you will be captivated by the grandeur of these residences. Hear the stories behind 40 of these these historic homes where many of the city’s most prominent citizens lived.

See the beautiful residence built by the man who created the first ice cream soda, the refuge of the eccentric socialite who was buried sitting in her prized Ferrari. You’ll see where local budding musicians and singers had recitals hosted by a resident. There’s a house that’s known as “The Love Boat” and the home where you could buy eggs over the front fence in the 1890’s.

You’ll see the first natatorium in San Antonio, and the house where the creator of the corn chip resided. Also, visit the home that had the first electric lights in the city, a former bordello, the home of a famous tenor who sang at the White House, and another house where a writer began her career, later publishing a novel that was subsequently turned into a movie.

You will marvel at the amazing architecture on display as we stroll past Greek Revival, Italianate, Victorian, Romanesque, Art Moderne, German Vernacular, Edwardian, and Neo Classical Revival houses. There’s even a house that was built from a catalogue !! In front of many I will show you “before” pictures showing the transformation over the decades.

What do Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Carol Burnett and Lily Munster have to do with the King William district ?

Hear all these stories and many more on your guided Walking Tour.

Remember….every step forward is a step back in time.
